For Love of a Magical City

I've been a nomadic traveler for almost two years now.  I have had the good fortune to visit twelve countries since leaving the U.S.  

One of the countries I visited proved to be a surprise for multiple reasons.  I knew nothing about Turkey before arriving in the country in June 2023.  The most I knew about the city of Istanbul was that it was ancient and used to be called Constantinople (insert the tune to the They Might Be Giants song).

Having been there several times since that first visit, the city is now firmly lodged in my heart.  The cats, the calls to the prayer, the sunsets, and the people have all endeared the city to me.  Turkish breakfast is about the best thing ever and so is the habit of ending a meal with a scalding hot cup of tea.

Pictured is the first design I made for the city.  It will not be the last.
